Falkland Families Association (FFA) 30th Anniversary

Church Service - St Paul's Cathedral - Saturday 15th June 2013

 

SAMA Members have been very kindly invited to attend the following event by the FFA.

A Church Service will be held in the Crypt of St. Paul's Cathedral, London at 1100hrs.

The Service will be followed by a lunch at a nearby Italian Restaurant (details to follow)

No formal application to the SAMA office is required for the Church Service, however you will need to contact the office if you are going to attend the lunch.

Please note the lunch is on a self payment basis

The SAMA office will then collate a list of names & group numbers on behalf of the FFA to assist them with their Restaurant bookings

Armed Forces Day - North Wales

Welcome Address

Formal Parade of Veteran’s and Standards

Drum Head Service,

Presentation of Veteran’s Badges by the Lord Lt Of Gwynedd.

There are activities on-going throughout the day, Fly Past,

Military Vehicles, paint ball range, ACF Corps of Drums, Fairground, Entertainment, Licensed Bar, Refreshments, Various Recruiting Stands, Static Helicopters and much more. 

Car Parking is available.


If you wish to take part in the Parade, please contact the SAMA office, either by phone or email to register your interest and also if there are any Veterans who wish to have their Badge presented by the Lord Lt, please let us know.  

All details will then be passed over to the Organisers of the event.


Armed Forces Day

Falmouth has invited SAMA 82 to set up a display during Armed Forces Day 22nd June 2013 and take part in the parade.

RNAS YEOVILTON - INTERNATIONAL AIR DAY

13TH JULY 2013

The above event will take place at the Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton in Somerset on Saturday 13th July.  The award winning show is one of the Southwest's largest one day events, attracting over 30,000 visitors, and will return this summer with an action paced day out for all the family.  Alongside the thrilling flying display there is plenty to see and do ont he ground.

This year's theme is TEAMWORK.  The breathaking flying display will feature military and civilan display teams from the UK and abroad, as well as the resident squadrons performing spectacular role demonstrations such as the famous Commando Assault Finale.  The groung displays will showcase modern RN assets and equipment with interactive displays showing the qualities , skills and professionalism of RN personnel working as a team to provide Front Line support.

Confirmed participants include world class military aerobatic teams such as the RAF Red Arrows and the Royal Jordanian Falcons.  There will be a roaring display by a Swiss Air Force F/A Hornet and Czech Air Force Gripen making their only UK appearance this year.  The noise will continue thanks to the return of hte Belgian Air Force F16 and RAF Typhoon to Air Day representing the cutting edge of modern global fighter technology.  Amongst the helicopter displays will be the RN and Army's latest aircraft, - the Wildcat and the return of the RAF Chinook.  On the historic front, the Battle of Brittain Memorial Flight's Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane will be present along with the RN Historic Flight's rare collection of naval warbirds.

Throughout the day there will be plenty of family attractions including the RM band and the Military Wives Choir Yeovilton.

Association of Dunkirk Little Ships Veterans Cruise 2013

Thames Motor Yacht Club - Saturday 7th September 2013

The Association of Dunkirk Little Ships is an association formed of current owners of Little Ships that were used during Operation Dynamo in late May/early June 1940. When the BEF and other forces were evacuated from the beaches and town at Dunkirk. Little Ships were used to ferry the troops from locations in the beaches and on the mole and piers in the docks to larger vessels waiting offshore. Nowadays the Little Ships are owned and operated privately and several events take place each year the ADLS can be found.

They wish to invite 40 of our members (no guests or escorts) to join them on the day.

The itinerary for the cruise on sat. 7th September is as follows:-

1200 - 1300 - Veterans arrive at TMYC

1330 - Welcome by Commodore TMYC & Commodore ADLS

1340 - Veterans embark in ADLS

1350 - Little Ships single up and prepare for departure

1400 - Little Ships sail in company for Richmond via Teddington Lock

1700 - 1730 - Little Ships return to TMYC moorings

On arrival - BBQ for Veterans on TYMC lawns

1930 - Cermonial Sunset

As requrested (c2100hrs) Veterans depart.

Dress Code for the day for Veterans is Jacket/ Tie/ Medals

The event is supported by the members of the TMYC, the ADKS & a support team of RN staff and trainees from the MAritime Warfare School at HMS Collingwood and the Band from PJHQ at Northwood.

The cruise, refreshments whilst afloat anf the BBQ on return are provided to the Veterans at no cost. A bar is available at TMYC.

There are Parking permits available on the day that will allow those travelling by car to park in the vacinity of TYMC (issued on arrival) and veterans can be dropped off the TYMC car park if required.
