If you have to travel far, RAF Brize Norton uses the Cotswold Gateway Hotel, close to the A40 and pro Armed Forces and there is a Travel Lodge opposite. There are also a number of oak beamed hotels in Burford.

Remembrance Parade - Horse Guards, London
Sunday 13th November 2016

If you wish to March in the SAMA (82) Platoon at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London on Remembrance Sunday, you will need to apply for a ticket to Horse Guards NOW!!!


Tickets are only available to SAMA (82) members on a one ticket per member and on a ‘first come first serve basis’. Tickets are sent out to applicants as soon as they are received from the RBL, usually early October.


Details of the After Parade Lunch will be advertised on the website later in the year.


Please send a Stamped Address envelope to the SAMA (82) Office to reserve your ticket and gain access to Horse Guards.

Armed Forces Day 2016 - Banbury Oxford

The afternoon will be a celebration of all that is good and exciting about the Army Reserves, Banbury & District Sea Cadets, Banbury Army Cadet forces and Air Training Corps Cadets. All forces will showcase their organisation. The Army Reserves will stage a logistics battle scene, the Sea Cadets hope to stage a Gun Run plus canoe demonstrations on the Banbury Canal.  The Army Cadets will show off their skills on a climbing wall and obstacle courses with the Air Training Corps hoping to show-case a static helicopter display, a fly-past and a parachute display. Still to be confirmed is a robotic bomb disposal display. As well as arena of demonstrations, all forces will have stands and displays and will be supported by Help for Heroes and Royal British Legion. The afternoon will conclude with a Trooping The Colour ceremony in the main arena and Beating the Retreat.
This will be a free event and members of the public will be able to ‘have a go’ at many elements.
Spiceball Park is situated close to Banbury Bus Station and Banbury Railway Station with plenty of car parking close by. 

Armed Forces Day 2016 - Exmouth, Devon

The site is easily accessible form the Exmouth Rail/Bus station. Coaches are permitted to drop off on site (Rolle St Bus Stop. The site is level and wheelchair friendly. Toilets are also locally available.


There will be a Parade of Veterans and Cadet Forces. On completion the event will be opened at 1030 by the Exmouth Town Mayor.


Throughout the day over 30+ various stalls and activities such as a Static Military Vehicle and static Weapons stance will be available for all.

Armed Forces Day is an opportunity to do two things; Firstly, to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces and Secondly, it gives the nation an opportunity to Show our Support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community – from currently serving troops to Service families and from veterans to cadets, we will also have representatives from the Uniformed Services.


The Military and Reserve forces will have static displays for the public to interact with, the Civilian emergency services will also have static displays.  Cadets, Military Charities, involvement with schools, fair ground rides, local youth organisations will be performing and there will also be cadet and reserve bands.

National Armed Forces Day will be held in Cleethorpes on Saturday 25th June 2016.

National celebrations begin on Monday 20th June when the AFD Flag is raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the country.

Reserves Day on Wednesday 23rd June 2016, will provide an opportunity for the country to recognise our Reserves Forces.

Liberation Day Service - Chorley, Lancs

There will be small wreath laying service at the Falklands Memorial Stone in Chorley on Tuesday 14th June.

You are all welcome to attend, and are asked to be there by 10.30am for the service to start prompt at 10.50am. with a minutes silence at 11.00am to honour our fallen comrades and Liberation Day.

The family of M Kevill will be invited along with the RBL Riders Branch.  There might also be the possibility of a drink at the one of local hostelries afterwards.  All at own expense.

SAMA Scotland Branch Annual AGM & Reunion Gala Dinner
Saturday 11th June 2016


We are now approaching the 34th Anniversary of the end of the Falklands Conflict in the South Atlantic in 1982 and as such, we as Veterans of that conflict will commemorate it with a re-union as per our Members wishes with a Dinner, which will take place at the Douglas Hotel, Aberdeen, on the 11th June 2016.


You can attend as an individual; or with your Wife or Partner and any relatives and friends, you wish to invite. The key factor, is a to have a super convivial evening of like-minded people, to remember the days we spent in the South Atlantic and in memory of those who didn’t return.


For those members who regularly attend, thank you for your continued support.


Please find attached the details of the Annual dinner, together with the application form, which should be submitted to the Secretary, together with your remittance for all tickets.


As a Member you are entitled to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Scotland Branch, which will take place in the Douglas Hotel at 1500hrs on Saturday 11th June 2016.

If you haven't got a jacket gents then just come anyway in shirt and tie, it is more important to be there.
