Annual Falklands Anniversary Service at Hull Minster  


A Service will be held at Hull Minster, Hull on Sunday 28th April 2019 to commemorate the 37th Anniversary of the Falklands.

Guests & Standard Bearers are kindly asked to arrive at Hull Minster by 1.30pm. 

The Service will start 2.00pm followed by a Parade at 3.00pm through the town centre which will include a Wreath laying ceremony.  The Drum Head service will take place inside Hull Minster. There will also be many Guests of Honour in attendance. The Service will be conducted by Reverend Canon Neal Barnes.

Refreshments will be available to all after the Service at the nearby George Pub. (from approx 4.00pm)

All Welcome to attend.

ON FRIDAY 26th APRIL 2019 – 7.30 pm

Peter Lutter’s Recital will be on the exquisite Hereford Steinway Concert Grand, and is in aid of the Armed Forces’ Charity ‘The Not Forgotten Association’

Price: £20, to include Programme on arrival, English Sparkling Wine, soft drinks and canapés during the interval. There is plenty of free parking on site and excellent disabled facilities.

FI Liberation Day Wreath Laying Ceremony in Chorley – 14th June 2019

There is a Falklands Islands Liberation Day Wreath Laying Ceremony in Chorley (Lancashire) on Friday 14th June 2019.

Location:- The War Memorial, Atley Park, Park Road, Chorley, PR7 1QN

Time:- 10.30hrs with a two minute silence at 11.00hrs

Parking is in the nearby car parks.

This is a very laid back family friendly Service – with no marching.

After the Service, all attendees are invited to the local Weatherspoons (buy your own drinks/food etc)

Entrance Fee £160 per team of 4  (includes running buffet on completion of round)

Team Prizes will be awarded to the Winning Team and Runners Up, with individual prizes for Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive (Men and Ladies) on nominated holes

HMS Collingwood, Fareham – Open Day – 1st June 2019

On Saturday 1 June 2019 a fantastic event will take place at HMS Collingwood, Fareham, Hampshire, when the establishment opens its gates for the annual Open Day, sponsored by Eight Wealth Management, featuring the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) Field Gun Competition.

The Field Gun Competition will feature crews from across the UK and as far afield as Gibraltar competing for the coveted Brickwoods Trophy.

The competition is fast and furious and requires 18-man teams to run, dismantle, reassemble and fire the gun in the shortest possible time. Strength, stamina, and team work are essential in this challenge. The selected crew members began training in March.

During the Open Day there will be attractions, entertainment and displays designed to capture the imagination of everyone.

Pre War Prescott Car Day – 20th July 2019 – Cheltenham

The Pre-War Prescott day organised by the Morris Minor Register. These are the pre-war Morris Minors not the later 1950’s Minor 1000 “Noddy Cars”. 

Prescott is a hill climb close to Bishops Cleeve near Cheltenham. Address is Gotherington, Cheltenham GL52 9RD.

Date is Saturday 20 July.

Camping on site available from Friday 19 July to Sunday 21st of July.  Cost is camping for £5.00 a night in the paddock and the event does run for the weekend.

The cost of entry is £15.00, however sponsorship for 10  tickets has been secured.  

Please contact the SAMA (82) office by email to register for the free tickets by 15th June  and indicate if you would like to participate if there is a possibility of seats in the scenic tour in a vintage car on the Sunday. Tim Parrott will be taking a car up the hill climb 3 times and have a spare seat for any lucky or unlucky volunteers. First come first serve. If you take a ticket and someone does not check in at the stand on the day, then there will be a fine!

Tim Parrott and Chris Jones will be on the SAMA stand throughout the weekend. 

SAMA SAS veterans from Hereford will hopefully will be in attendance and may bring a “”Pink Panther” land-rover. In addition Tim Lewis may have a WWII Willy’s Jeep. Tim Parrott will have his light green 1938 MG TA Midget. 

There are Beer tents and a Bar-B-Que, all at reasonable rates plus a free Jazz Band.


Memorial Gardens Opening Ceremony – Aberdare (South Wales)

3rd November 2019

The Royal Welsh Comrades Association (Aberdare Branch) have been raising funds for a Memorial Garden in Aberdare (South Wales) in Remembrance of service personnel from the local area and also those who fought in all wars and conflicts.

One of features of the Memorial Garden will be a Falkland Island Conflict Memorial Bench dedicated to those who died in conflict and particular Corporal Phillip Sweet, 1st Bn Welsh Guards, who was from Aberdare.

A ceremony will take place on the 3rd November 2019, to commemorate the opening of the Gardens.

Exact Timings & Location to be announced in due course.
