Douglas, from Glasgow, was born on 14th June 1955.
He died on 19th May 1982, when the Sea King helicopter he was in crashed into the sea while transferring troops.

In 2022, as part of the 40th Anniversary commemorations, geographical features were identified and named after the fallen of 1982. McCORMACK ISLET is a small tussac islet to the south of East Island.
