14 June 2026 – Falklands Commemorative Ceremony, Poole

Location: Falklands Square, Poole, Dorset, BH15 1ER
Start Time: 10.30hrs
End Time: approx. 11.15hrs

This ceremony brings together veterans, families, and dignitaries to honour the sacrifices made during the Falklands conflict.
A serving Royal Navy padre leads the service, with veterans forming a
guard of honour and representatives from all three services displaying their standards.
The Lord Lieutenant or their deputy conducts a reading
and the ceremony concludes with a moment of silence.
This solemn pause allows everyone present to reflect on the
past and pledge to uphold the legacy of those who served.

Poole served as the hub of amphibious excellence, with 90 per cent of the
Royal Marines unit deployed as part of the embarked forces, including
Landing Craft crews, the Special Boat Service, and forward
observation batteries of the Royal Artillery.

Honouring those who did not return home.
Our heartfelt recognition goes out to the courageous members
of the Royal Marines, the Royal Navy, and the Special Boat Service
who departed from Poole but did not come back, alongside the
255 British service personnel who lost their lives in this conflict.

We cherish the memory of the Landing Craft Crew of Foxtrot Four:
CSgt Brian Johnson QGM
Sgt Ronald Rotheram
Mne Anthony Rundle
Mne Robert Griffin
MEA(P)1 Alexander James
AI/MEM David Miller

These brave individuals were tragically killed on June 8, 1982
and have been missing at sea for 43 years
but they will never be forgotten.

We also honour Sergeant Ian 'Kiwi' Hunt of the Special Boat Service
who lost his life on June 2 during an exchange of gunfire
with an SAS patrol near Teal, Falklands.

Additionally, we remember MEM Stephen Ford, from Poole,
who was killed on May 22, 1982, when an Argentine aircraft attacked
and sank HMS Ardent, resulting in the loss of 22 sailors aboard.

ALL WELCOME TO ATTEND
