John, from Rothwell in Northamptonshire was born on 3rd July 1945.
He died on 5/6 June 1982 when the Gazelle Helicopter that was transported him crashed near Pleasant Peak.

In 2022, as part of the 40th Anniversary commemorations, geographical features were identified and named after the fallen of 1982. BAKER POINT is the westernmost point of Pleasant Island near Fitzroy Farm, East Falkland.
