William John Begley

William, who served with the Royal Corps of Transport before joining the Special Air Service, was born on 15th April 1950.

He died on the 19th of May 1982, when the Sea King helicopter he was in crashed in the sea.

In 2022, as part of the 40th Anniversary commemorations, geographical features were identified and named after the fallen of 1982.   BEGLEY ISLAND is a Tussac covered islet at the northeast entrance to Brenton Loch, East Falkland.
