John, from Eastleigh in Hampshire, was born 19th June 1947.

He died on 25th May 1982 when HMS Coventry was bombed and sunk while operating off the northern coast of West Falkland.

In 2022, as part of the 40th Anniversary commemorations, geographical features were identified and named after the fallen of 1982.   CADDY ROCK is a prominent unvegetated rock in the passage between Rabbit Island (in King George Bay) and mainland West Falkland.
