Stephen McAndrews was born in Wythenshawe, Manchester on 2nd Feb 1960, to Anne and Graham McAndrews. He has 4 sisters Jackie, Beverly, Nikki, and adopted sister Lyndsey.

He always wanted to be a Marine and joined the Corps straight from school at the age of 16.

He was killed in action on the 27th May at San Carlos. His daughter Sarah, whom he never knew, was born on the 21st September 1982.

In 2022, as part of the 40th Anniversary commemorations, geographical features were identified and named after the fallen of 1982.   McANDREWS BAY is a sheltered anchorage on the east side of Burnt Island, off the south coast of Saunders Island, West Falkland.
